Work In Progress

WORK IN PROGRESS – WIP

I am made in the image of God!
You are made in the image of God!
What an amazing truth:
that The Creator, created me…and you –
because He is love and He loves us!

But me?! I’m broken and damaged,
stained by sin;
contaminated by life’s experiences and relationships -
how can God love me?!
Surely, I’m unworthy and irredeemable!
I’ve travelled too far on the muddy, winding road;
tripped over too many hazards,
fallen too deep in the mire.

Know that God can make us whiter than white.
He can cleanse and heal.
He can chisel away the exterior tarnish
and fix the interior mess,
to make us fit for Heaven –
pure, transparent light.
Perfect restoration – ‘for all things are possible for God’.

Can we fall on scarred knees,
and bow our proud heads
and ask Him to complete His work-in-progress?

Can we ask for forgiveness and offer to forgive?
Can we let cleansing tears fall
And our hearts come alive?
Can we imagine a new creation,
made from the darkness of years gone by?
Can we talk to Our Father,
As a child in need?
Can we dream of a new life – of sweetness and light?
Can we ask for God’s help, and trust in His healing love?
Can we trust in His mercy, and receive His Promise of life?
Can we say Yes, to His plea, and hope in Him we can’t see –
For He is God Invisible, Holy, and True
He is God who awaits us, whose face one day, we’ll see.
