Way to the Grave….Injustice versus Truth – Written JUNE 2017 Jesus said: ‘Woe to you! For you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it.’ Luke 11:42 This is a truth hard to hear; a truth hard to bear When we’re pulled into world, where others just don’t care. So easy to shut our eyes, when the poor walk our streets, Hands outstretched, in quest, for a kind of liberty. When the judge with a bribe, throws stones at the weak; When the innocent fall, and the guilty stand tall; When the weak are struck down, and the strong carry on; When our children are cornered, by adults with guns; When families flee, and are blasted by bombs; When land is polluted with poison and gas; When vulnerable minds are damaged… and innocence lost; When man is attacked by chemicals and knives; When bridges are burnt and walls built… to take lives. Self rises high to protect the ego from fear As we withdraw and control, the place we find near. Lock down. Lock out. The barriers go up - Communication and understanding are luxuries to be cut. We panic and run from mayhem and madness When money and power, become the way to the grave. There is but one truth, which can set us all free: Jesus is the answer, the source of liberty. He will take all our mess, all our hate and our fear He will love us into love, for He came for you and me. Call on His name, in danger, hurt and in pain He is waiting to transform us and to bring us life and truth – For with Him, we will rise and never be the same. Julie Hughes ©
