THE VEIL

   The Veil

The mist gives way to the sun.
Cold earth releases its dampness.
But the sun shines, creating mist.
Blue skies emerge beyond
And the mountains display their finery –
Majestic, dominant, beautiful.

The clouds pass by in the sky.
The mist lingers in patches –
The veil is very thin.
The mystery of what lies beyond is real.
We are in a moment of time
And the morning light is strong.
And we wonder – what will this new day bring?

Light mesmerises – it is so stunning!
Flickering, high-lighting, changing;
A yellow orb encircles a hot white –
Blinding, dazzling, attracting.
Nature responds, moving towards its rays.
We, too, move – allowing its beams to touch us.

The veil is thin – what do we really see?
Is there a spiritual world beyond the fringe?
Can we interact –
Do our spirits commune with those we cannot see?
My heart moves me to know more.
Not a ghostly presence; there is no sense of fear.
No strange extra-terrestrial being,
Trying to draw me close.
But, yes, a fragmentary glimpse of the supernatural –
A delightful mystery!
No collision of force, just a gentle and warm immersion.

Oh, Kingdom of God, awaiting a new Heaven,
A new Earth!
How close is that destination for our souls?
What a Promise, from God Almighty!

The mist thickens again as evening falls.
The fire starts to burn, as logs are added;
They crackle and spit.
The mist is heavy now,
Shrouding the winter houses.
Don’t shroud our hearts.
Let the veil come down,
Ready to fall away at the perfect time.
