STORM IN FRANCE (2022 AUGUST) The rain hammered down yesterday I thought the sky would cave in Trees swayed violently And thunder roared, growled, echoed Streaks of white lightning electrified The black night skies And the merciless wind struck Unrelenting as it tossed randoms into the air Their freedom now – to be lost, cast away I watched on, protected inside A sheet of thick glass, my defence My heart beat a little faster My mind, preoccupied with the power of nature, unleashed Brought into sharp focus The Lord of Life! juliehughespoetry(c)augustpoetry2022
