SIMPLY JESUS – juliehughes©poetry2019 Do you want to know about Jesus – the greatest man who ever lived? Do you want to know about God’s Son, who came to earth and was born in a stable? Do you want to know about the King, who brought salvation to all mankind? Do you want to know about a Baby, who grew up, taught us and who we hanged on a tree? Do you want to know about our Saviour, who we hated because He was pure innocence and love? Do you want to know about the only God who has ever walked the Earth, and lived amongst his people, to offer them healing and eternal life? I DO – TELL ME ABOUT HIM; TELL ME ABOUT JESUS! Jesus, whose name means ‘God saves’ is perfect love. He is gentle, compassionate and kind. He heals people – he made the blind see and the deaf, hear; the lame walk and the broken, made whole. Matthew 11:5: Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and good news is preached to the poor. He is alive – He has always been alive – except for the time when He died on the Cross; but 3 days later was resurrected: John 20: A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” He was here, in existence, ‘before ever the world was…’ John 17:24: "Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” His eyes can read your soul – he can look into the very depth of your heart. He is the Son of the Father, God. His Spirit rests inside those who love Him. 1 John 4:16: ‘And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.’ He is ‘the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And no one can come to the Father, except through Him’. John 14:6: Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He is our Shepherd; he opens the gate to His flock; we are His sheep. He is King, Sovereign overs us. He is Love, absolute – unconditional; total. He is Innocence and Purity; Wisdom and Strength. He is Holy, eternal; Beloved of the Father. He is powerful – a mighty Warrior; nothing can stand against Him. He died for us, nailed to a wooden cross on Golgotha, Israel. He rose from the dead, was resurrected, and appeared to hundreds of people. He was born in Bethlehem and then moved to Nazareth and died in Jerusalem. He taught in the synagogues, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, on the mountain tops, and in the village streets. He is never frightened, for He is above all things; everything must submit to Him. He tells us not to be afraid – that we must just keep our eyes on Him. John 27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” He cried tears as He looked down on Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, for He know what we would become – that we would drift away. He loves sinners, for He came to heal the sick – we are all spiritually in need of mercy. He is Judge over all – every human being; and He is just, for He cannot lie. 2 Timothy 4:8: ‘…In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing’. He performed and continues to perform miracles – supernatural actions, beyond our understanding; mysteries, sublime. He was born of a Virgin – Mary – who had been chosen centuries before, by His Heavenly Father. She was specially made innocent, pure and holy. Isaiah 7:14: “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Jesus asks us to forgive, so that we can be forgiven – from the will; not the heart. Matthew 14: “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” He is called the Lamb of God because lambs were once sacrificed for our sins in the Temple in Jerusalem. In Egypt, the blood of a slaughtered lamb was spread on the doors of the Israelites’ homes on the night they fled from their captors. God freed them from their enemies, and they were led by Moses, across the Red Sea to the Promised Land. The Blood of Jesus is precious – it heals, cleanses, protects and gives life. Jesus is coming back to Earth – He told us that He would return. Revelation 1:7: “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him--even those who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen.” There is power in His name – call Him; speak to Him; kneel down and pray to Him. He wants you to know that He loves you; He’s always loved you. John 15: “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.” We pray: Jesus, please come into my life. Forgive me for turning away. Open my heart to Your love. I forgive all the people who have hurt me, because I know that You will sort out my problems and that You will set me free from the pain I feel, and the hurt that I have caused others. Forgive me for all the things that I have done wrong in my life. I thank You for loving me.
