SILENCE

In the silence
I hear only the birds and insects
Humming and tweeting.
Even the wind does not stir
On this hot summer’s day.
Life is all around, yet imperceptible – 
Water flowing from mountains nearby,
Sun shining in a deep blue sky,
My heart pumping and lungs inhaling,
Small animals moving in the undergrowth - hidden, undetected,
And butterflies landing on nature’s gifts
Seeking sweet nectar from flowers and plants…
In all this stillness, I can hear God
Wonderfully present in His creation so rich.
For He is life and He sustains life
For all that exists
Has come from his greatness, His love and design.
Be at peace and be still for He is everywhere,
Let your heart dance with joy,
And bathe in His light,
And wonder at His beauty,
Which to our spirit gives light.
