She’s Passing (29 March 2019)

She’s Passing: Heavenward-bound

Life is ebbing away
Beauty is fading (but not forgotten).
She looks sadly at her passing world –
Counting the days, the hours, the moments.
How she loves her children! Memories of innocent laughter, silly jokes and
Scuffed knees flood a mind in pain, bringing tearful relief.

Light is flickering; voices grow strangely quiet.
She was a vivacious talker; full of joy…
But it seems to be slipping away, as time now moves fast.
Her eyes looks strangely dim, for she is lost –
Now somewhere in the middle of an unknown something.
If only she can hang on! But there’s no past, just the present –
For the future is a blank canvas, shrinking into Now.

I search her face, to read her fear and frustration.
A bridge is being built on the Horizon of Hope –
Coming closer, like a white yacht on a deep, blue sea.
Gentle waves splash and roll, and the warm breeze blows softly.

It’s now or never – oh, but you’re wrong!
Life is waiting for her, bathed in amazing light!
Radiant beyond belief, and calling her with love.

Grow strong the spirit! for Love’s arms are open wide –
Welcoming His beautiful child.
There will be dancing and singing, joy and celebration –
For she’s coming home.
A party like no other awaits her, and her heart will burst with joy, with life
And with love.

Tears - disappear
Pain – no trace, no stain
Fear – wiped clean away
Doubt – cancelled out
Loss – Jesus paid the cost
Death – never the end, but an earthly test
Love – she will carry in full to Heaven above

For now, she’s still living and giving and loving
Papering away at the cracks, applying a quick fix here and there –
Buying time as it runs like water from her hands…
Falling into the sparkling stream of hope.
And still she laughs at her troubles, claiming the victory
For death must lose its sting: it has no choice.
Her strength cuts those close, to the core.
As courage frames her fear, they surrender
Confused and frightened by that glimmering light
Still shining in the dark.

Don’t look away – look at her and keep real!
She wears something timeless, an amazing treasure!
For His mighty heart beats eternally
And He promises her this gift:
Life and love, peace and a future –
His Way, not ours – One God, One Son, One Spirit.
