Self

  SELF – in a World of His Own

 Self does not want to know God
 Or rely on Him as a friend.
 Self must achieve all
 And walk proudly on his chosen path.
 Self is lonely and afraid,
 For there is a black void, a longing in his soul.
 Self has lost the connection, broken the rudder,
 As he sails alone on the sea.
 Self looks ahead, planning his route;
 For he thinks he can achieve all things.
 Self is eager to let others know that he is coping very well –
 And that God does not exist.
 Self celebrates his birth, but forgets about death,
 For his end seems so far away.
 Self finds contentment in his successes,
 And his failures are not his concern –
 Into the recesses of the mind, they are sent and burned.

 Oh! But how wrong you are, Self –
 Not to see the Truth; to know how much you’ve missed!
 (Your dull eyes and ears, will result in copious tears.)

 Don’t you know how much God loves you;
 How much He longs to help you;
 How much He wants to give you;
 How he desperately wants to pick you up when you fall
 And cradle you back into life, when life becomes too hard!
 He wants to carry you and comfort you, when you’re sad and alone;
 To relieve your pain, when your poor heart is yearning –
 When its churning and burning and breaking in two.
 He wants to settle your restless soul,
 When whirlpools turn you upside down, and inside out;
 To give you warmth, when you feel cold;
 To give you hope when you’re full of despair;
 To share your joy and make your spirit dance;
 To allow your Self to find its safe haven of peace
 And forever surround your heart with love.
 Your God of Love is waiting for you…
 Come find Him, while you can.
