Breathe life into me, Holy Spirit of God
For, without, You, I am dead.
Nothing can exist lest You give it life. Oh, breathe on me.
 
Fire of power and might, of love and life
Strike the world with truth and touch us into life
For we are falling, spinning madly out of control.
We head for chasms deep, in the blackness of death.
 
Holy Spirit, gentle wind of peace and wisdom
Guide me and draw me to Your heart.
Carry me on wings of Divine love
And bathe me in Your rainbow light of hope -
For through Heaven’s skies, I glide
Caught in the slipstream of Your holy breath;
‘In You I move and live and have my being’. (Acts 17:28)
I am Your child, made in Your image –
Abandon me not
For ‘You are my strength of heart and portion forever’. (Psalm 73)
 
Oh, flame of love, set us all on fire!
Ignite us with truth, that we may seek You…and be saved.
Open our eyes and hearts to see You, to know You, to love You -
For You are love.
We are cold, with dull eyes and frozen hearts –
Bent on self and selfish gain,
Worldly, and imprisoned by cells of our own making.
Break us out, set us free…for we have gone astray.
Holy Spirit, majestic and pure, cover us, please?
Heal our broken lives, broken promises, broken relationships,
Broken dreams, broken understanding, broken bodies…
Though we are rock-solid in defiance and rejection of You!
You who are love, life, holy, immortal, mighty and all-wise -
Forgive us, we pray.
