My Hope is You

Pink sky, mountain top, wispy clouds white

Layering a night shade over a sparkling open sea

Small waves ride over rocks

Which frame a beach of fading yellow sand

And I gaze out to sea

Mesmerised by God’s amazing beauty, for He is seen in eyes that know His face...of love.

Love’s glow rises over distant hills

Saturating green impressionistic grassy waves

Dots of white sheep move slowly, re-arranging patterns

And farmers drive their ploughs to beat the promised heat.

MY heart knows His heart, of love

In the valley of hope

Blistering bright-yellow directs its rays over parched land...

Land thirsting for what seems still to be hidden -

An emptiness in us, desperate to be filled!

Where is Your Spirit? Why are we so lost?

Why do we deny all that you are?

Open our blind eyes; search and renew our broken, cold hearts –

Fill us with You, who is life. Turn not from us;

We need You, Spirit of Truth and Life.

Darkness tries to cover Your glory, which our denial brings

And with it, the very air we breathe is made toxic.

Come rescue us; make haste!

Free us; break our chains of sin.

So Your light will penetrate these passing clouds

And Your colour and brightness, have no restraint.

Burst forth in power and beauty; abandon us not.

Drench us in the rain of your Holy Spirit.

Twinkling, winking stars light up the midnight black.

The moon throws its glow across the land.

Shadows dance and flicker, waiting for the breaking dawn.

Darkness is again overwhelmed

As golden rays spread over the waiting world

And the Son blasts his mighty radiance; He comes in glory!

People dash madly in the city, hurrying to nowhere.

Thoughts are manic; sights, delusional; confusion reigns.

Time is distorted in the twisted sand glass; pressure is mounting.

Be still; breathe in God and rest your weary soul.

Flashing shapes crash the tired mind,

And weigh down the heavy body, exhausted

By the frenzied whirlwind of life...without You.

Concrete buildings block our view of endless streams of rushing feet

And crowd our vision. Where do they end?

We go higher, wider, further, deeper..but find nothing.

Come! Let’s go inside. Perhaps, we can find You?

Oh, Wisdom! appear and soothe our furrowed brows. Bless us, we pray.

Oh quiet relief in our raging storm!

You touch our hearts and make us new –

Healer, Redeemer, Servant, King, Friend, Creator, Most Holy and Mighty One, who kisses us

with His holy kiss and brings restoration.

The Cross has marked our hearts and Your streaming blood, mixed in with ours.
Your waters of life, which flowed from Your wounded side, cleanse our spirits;

So, now, we hope to see Your glorious face –

Speed us on our way, we pray.

You have touch us with the beauty of this world

Dazzle us now, in You! Saviour of all, we bless You.

Bless us, we pray.
