Morning dew – July 2017

Morning dew settles on a parched earth
Unexpected, refreshing
Source of growth, resplendent in colour –
For it enhances and renews, enriching a tired land
Bringing it vivacity and definition.

Water, a gentle blessing upon a place desperate for health,
In need of healing – how it craves life!
Does it recognise its lack of joy; its search for peace?

The trees sway gently, too, receiving the blessing.
They move in the wind, capturing a holy breath –
For He blows, guiding and directing.
Even against our resistance –
Seemingly non-existent, yet blindly manic.

The dryness is relieved, as water penetrates the earth.
All that feel its touch are revived and energised.
Deep roots reach out,
taking its healing to off-shoots and fragile stems and
estranged tatty stragglers – for their need is total.
Can you see how they recover?

The drought leaves some very weak –
Vulnerable they fall prey to unwelcome hosts
Which feed off their beauty and intolerance.
Consumed, they diminish and shrivel –
Can they ever come back to life?
Will they know another season?
All seems quite hopeless, as they begin to wither.
But, oh! hear the whistle of the wind.
He brings change and the world dances to His joyful tune.

All roots can recover, for He is Holy and blesses with love –
From Life, comes life.

The dew glistens and sparkles.
A morning mist rises to reveal the day’s splendour and light.
Such promise! Such unconditional love –
For we have neglected and rejected the Heart of the earth.
But he rises above our ignorance and folly
And the darkness of night flees.

Gloriously bright, splendid light!
