Mankind’s Folly

Oh mankind can you not see
The way life is and death should be?
You stumble on the rocky path
And struggle to break free of me.
But I am life and I hold the key
As we are bound for eternity.

Oh mankind can you not try
To find the truth and question why?
Your path is often hard and weary
You fall and toil and then deny
How my existence is your lie
To hope and love you scream goodbye.

Oh mankind can you not reason
To sell your soul is your own treason?
Can you not follow the light of life
And turn away as darkness threatens?
Look for good then faith is won
And with this love Heaven will come.

Oh mankind can you not love
This beauty on Earth given from above?
Pain and war is man's creation
Inviting the devil to dine at our table
Turn to truth for what else but love
Can open the gates to Heaven above?
