Innocence

Where has it gone; is it still here -
The innocence, of all those years?
Clearly seeing, eyes wide open,
Lines and wrinkles, Death’s awoken.

Freely dancing through sun-clad fields,
Youth and love, a mighty shield.
But rain has fallen, cold winds have blown,
The dust is scattered, fear has grown.

Where has it gone; is it still here -
The innocence of all those years?
Sun now blocked,
And shadows dance,
Ever closer,
Truth enhanced.

Sailing strong on stormy seas,
No door barred, you have the key.
But you are lost, the map is vague;
Wisdom is your Coming of Age.

Where has it gone; is it still here -

The innocence of all those years?
Search deep inside,
It’s Truth you need,
Enrich your soul,
Your conscience heed.

The rivers of life now ebb and flow,
Truth has shown the way to go -
Sometimes, they’re rough and hard to sail,
Internal strength will but prevail.

Where has it gone; is it still here -
The innocence of all those years?
You are now free,
You travel light,
Your eyes wide open,
Awake at night.
