In between you and me, is a heart of love – Emitting hope and dreams, stresses and sorrows, pain and numbness Health and infirmity, plans for the future and a past. For we are two; juxtaposed; centred in truth In between sky and sea: air – imperceptible, moving, essential, Infused with water, space, warm, cold, clean, toxic Green layered, tough rubbery leaves deflect the sun, shade the trees Allowing a flickering of light to mesmerise the jungle’s inhabitants That leap and glide, perch and pose In between canopy and fertile floor Splashing, lashing waves hit surface rocks with glee Releasing power and breaking, smoothing, time-stained, Weather-beaten granite and limestone. Fragments and particles Mix with the ever-changing motion of H20. Rock and sand in between water and its murky depths; A sanctuary for the fish – free and darting, hiding and preying, Motionless and waiting, searching and finding In between earth and sun, an inexplicable void – Black infiltrated by torpedoes of comet lights, planets And asteroids; galaxies and the white Milky Way, lost in space and time. Speed of light, speed of sound, slipstreams, and dark matter, Black holes, a moonstruck cosmos, burning red rays, star-made bears; a blazing Orion And blinding confusion. Rockets zoom and search the blackness, hoping for hope And, yet, such absurdity is found in our quest: For all is centred in one Creator - though we push the limits of time And space to find truth; Cern Collider, none the wiser. In between water and sky, a bridge; Let’s cross it – perhaps, we’ll find sanctuary. Birth, then death. In between, a journey – Of raging storms, a tranquil shade, of gleaming truth, Of buoyancy and deflation, of love and sadness, of highs and lows, Of challenges and rest, of hope and despair, of longing, Of grief, of laughter, of happiness, of change, of deep joy, Of sublime beauty, of dark skies and bright colours All centering on His Promise. Beyond the in between – the destination, home, the final goal
