I think of You when I hear loud thunder A mighty roar in a distant, dark sky …When I see lightning strikes across a jet-black night A mesmerising flash at the speed of light …And when the rumble rolls, with a promise of rain Heavy grey clouds release their precious, quenching cache I think of You when I see a fire blaze Burning tongues and bright, shooting flames A phenomenal power, always a cause for concern Destroying; yet cleansing - its beauty, absurd …When I look at a sparkling sea, pondering its unknown depths Unfathomable and amazing, mysterious and alive Oh how, it reminds me of You! I think of You in the hurricane Turmoil and chaos, eradicating and pursuing Uncontrollable force, controllable only by You …When the gentle breeze brushes my skin Cooling us, thankfully, in the midday heat In the silence and delight, I feel the secret of its breath I think of You, as the flower grows From bud to sweet-blossoming rose Sensational scent, intoxicating beauty Velvet petals, coloured every shade and hue …When the dandelion releases her puffs of seed I watch them float serenely in zig-zagging streams of air Wondering where they will land I think of You in the waterfall As torrents of water gush and dance Bubbling and smashing with force …And when the pool below is tranquil and fresh Welcoming, luxurious and healing. I see oceans of mercy and free-falling love Given out to transform and renew – For nothing is impossible to You! You break and mould, fill and use Rescuing with wisdom, untold Supernatural and incredible Everything can be subdued…only by You. How glorious it is, so vital and free Awful and true. And glorified by You! For You, Creator - perfect Creator of all – Of what is visible and invisible Are my God, and my loving friend. JULIE HUGHES AUGUST 2017
