I am a Flower April 2017

I am a flower,
Withering by a flowing stream

I am a flower,
Swaying furiously in the damaging wind

I am a flower,
With petals falling, carried in the storm

I am a flower,
Stamped on hard by passers-by

I am a flower,
Bent over because my stem is broken

I am a flower,
With sun-dried leaves, desperately seeking water

But…my roots are deep and blessed by You, the Son eternal

I am beautiful, rising up to meet the golden sun
I am strong, ready to receive fresh, sustaining water
I am God’s creation, aware of His restorative power
I am blossoming because He promises me life, so I can again grow strong

I can sway and bend,
Delight and stand tall
I can bow low,
And attract the eyes with colours, bright
I can offer a sweet perfume
And know that He promises me life,
No matter how broken I become
For I belong to Him

He does not crush the bruised reed
Or quench the smouldering wick
For He loves all that He creates.

And He loves me!
