Heaven or Hell? Jan 2019

If Jesus hadn’t come, none would now be saved.
But He opened a gate to Heaven,
And formed a bridge from death to life.

He created a line of holy people
Who would help to lead us on -
Following the pilgrims’ path
To the shrine and blessed place.

He opened a holy well to quench our desperate thirst
With bread to give us holy strength
So our spirits deep within us
Could hear His mighty call.

He saved us for we all were lost
We’d turned away from God,
We dismissed the Creator of life
And accepted nothing but strife.

We switched off the light of truth
And turned to the shadows of death
Blinded then by evil,
Walked on the road to Hell.

God filled the separation
And broke down the wall of death
Offering life through His Son
Jesus – true mercy and true love.

So now we know the truth
And once again walk free -
The choice is ours
If we seek holy liberty!

When tolls the bell
And life must end
Where does our heart then go -
Are we bent on Heaven or Hell?

If bent still on denial -
Surely logic should prevail!
To sail on calm clear waters

Or get tossed on stormy seas?

Ask God in truth – He’ll tell you
That He alone has the key
Unlock the early prison cell
From Satan’s lies then flee.

Dispel the spell that evil’s wrought
Be caught by Love as Jesus taught!
Heaven is where the air is pure
Where you’ll find love, assured.

Oh, blessed hope that Jesus gives
Throughout a life so hard!
Oh, blessed truth that shows the way
Rainbow light from colours, grey!
