Freedom is You

Freedom is You
There’s a mist forming over the land.
Light tries to penetrate; darkness blocks it out.
There’s a fear in the opaque stillness,
As hearts flutter and lungs inhale damp air.
The night is cold and we are colder still
For Love’s warmth is frozen out.
We long for His embrace
And yet deny His saving Grace.
The mystery of life is sealed,
For we refuse to seek and find.
We close the doors of our minds,
So that our spirits become interned.
Oh, that we would choose hope
And walk along the rocky path!
Oh, that we would look for Truth,
And know that He would then be found!
The trees stand tall in awe of their Maker.
Their branches reach high towards the light.
The sun falls soft on seasoned bark
And the leaves grow green, full of life!

The Earth is raging in turmoil –
Crying out for its Master’s touch.
Desperate for calm and renewal,
As the seas crash wildly, untamed.
Rescue us, God, for we’re dying.
We’re growing weak as we cling to ourselves.
Free us from the prisons we’ve built,
Let us again know the Author of Life!
Pull us out of the depths,
For we’ve sunk so low in our sins.
Unveil the faces we’ve hidden from You,
And let Your radiance fall on our eyes.
Oh, Merciful One full of love,
Let our hearts know Your Perfect Truth!
Burn the lies,
And drive the darkness from our lives!
Let all that is killing us, die.
