Somewhere today a heart is bleeding Somewhere tonight a child is crying And his stuttering words can be heard on high As they are carried in the wind, to a place of inaccessible light Tears fall, creating a reservoir of despair And these stained waters run deep In time, rivers of fear, sadness and anger form a flood. And how this flood is spreading! Desperate sounds of knotted sobbing moans Penetrate another world, where in the Creator lives – For his children are dying and suffering; Are being damaged and persecuted The Innocent are being murdered and crushed. Victims of hate and greed, they fall But a mighty arm is being raised Against which nothing can stand…but what is good Panic, dread and confusion will ensue For a battle cry is heard in Zion – The Master’s voice in every corner of the Earth, Is resonating, booming, consoling The flood has breached man’s defences It cannot be restrained or contained – By money, strategies, coercion, deceit, lies, trickery, Fear, intimidation or violence – never again! A child looks at the rubble of his fallen world Dust-covered, lacerated and bleeding flesh bears The hallmark of someone else’s hate. His big heart has been blasted, shattered into tiny pieces Of hopelessness and confusion. Pain, amplified, is being forged into a weapon of determined revenge. He is alone, abandoned by love; ready to strike As anger and sadness invade the depths of his spirit. And so, in time, festering, they grow and consume. Boy becomes man…he is all grown up! Our Creator lives. And He is coming at an hour you do not expect. ‘Thou shalt not kill’, ‘Thou shalt not kill’, ‘Thou shalt not kill’. Life is not yours, to take away. Do not murder or harm anybody in His Name, for He is Holy and Almighty. He is Life and He is Love and He saves For He is the Judge – perfectly wise, perfectly just Our time is short. Spend it well for our God is waiting for us. He has always been waiting, for He loves everything he has created. Do you love Him? Are you waiting for the moment of Truth? There is but One Truth: He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. One way: His Way. The Way of the Cross and the Way of Life. Juliehughespoetry(c)poetry 2015
