Carpe Diem

Icicles are forming as the rain falls.
The air is so cold, the wind, so fierce.
Houses and fields are dressed in jewels –
Hanging down from where the silver water fell.
Everything outside looks so beautiful.

Inside, we are warm; the fire blazes.
Our eyes catch the glittering gems
Of Nature’s perfect creations.
Their sharpness is real and sword-like.
They remain beyond the door.

We, with frozen hearts and minds,
Seem utterly protected and strangely secure.
But, oh! Can our fleshy hearts feel such danger,
As we expose them to sin and shame?!
As we offer them to apathy and indifference?
Surely, they will be pierced.
We will come to know a pain so raw –
Our tears will fall, like streams of cold rain,
Or torrents of hail and ice.
A knife will reach our centre, our core.

Don’t let the cold cover you and enter your precious heart.
Let your troubled heart seek true warmth and solace…
Embrace the open arms of Your Father - right now!
He is waiting for you; His Spirit is calling you.

Can you hear Him? Is your conscience awake,
Guiding you, leading you, to new life?
There is still time – carpe diem – seize it, take it!
