Before the foundation of the world
You were destined to save us, save me
 
You were there, Jesus Christ, before time began
Omega, Living God, Son of the Father
 
The Prophets knew that you would come
To give us life, to conquer death
 
And willingly, you paid for us, the sacrifice
With Your precious blood, Oh Lamb of God
 
For You are life which cannot die
Like the grass that withers and the flower that falls
For You are all…in all
 
Lead us now in truth, we pray. Help us
When we go astray; when we turn away
 
We rejected You, the Living Stone
And still fight to deny; replacing truth with a lie
 
But You’re the Cornerstone, the Solid Rock
Most Precious One, on whom we must build
 
Protect us all, as we stumble and fall
As we close our ears to the Word we’ve heard
 
Open our hearts to find Your truth. Take away
Our pride which blinds our eyes from seeing You
 
 
Come, bring us home, the exiled and lost, the scattered
And shamed, the hurt and the lame
 
Jesus Christ, Son of God, despised by man
Who did no wrong; and committed no sin –
But acted with kindness, forgiveness, teaching and healing
And when challenged, did not threaten
And when hated, did not hate…for He is God
 
Intent on nailing Love to a tree
To satisfy our fear, we went deep
Into darkness as we blocked out the Light
Losing sight of all that is good. And is right.
 
Oh, marvellous light, bleach the stains of sin
That we may know Your truth again
Deep in our hearts, make love our aim
Free our spirits to see You again.
 
Rescue us, please, for we’ve drifted far
Into a raging storm, on a violent sea
Only You, God of Mercy, can calm the wind
Make us walk on water, make our fear recede.
Let hope grow strong and shadows fade
The cost of our life has already been paid
 
Though we fight and open the gates of hell
We beg You… save us from ourselves
Amazing God, You conquered death
Oh sacrificed Lamb You won the victory
Mend our hearts and let us know that
Trust in You is what we need
For only You are love, are life: the key.
