Sky ablaze.

Explosion. Light splitting like ice shards.

Darkness is deep; the light is central - immensely bright,

emitting forks into the black.


We look up and see the Force at work.

People panic. Hearts beat faster.

We cannot make sense of what we see – this vision confounds us.

We do not know how to respond.

We fear.

What or who is the enemy?

Should we run or wait or hide?

To where should we run; what should we do?


You, Lord God, know our fears, our needs, our desires,

our wrongs, our rights, our lies, our truths – all that we are…

help us, now, we pray!

Let us find sweet refuge in Your heart,

peace in Your Spirit and hope, in Your plans for us.

Keep us safe in You.


I am a kite, made from a wooden cross.

I am covered by a light-coloured cloth.

I am flying where the wind blows, high in the sky.

Spirit of God, send me where you choose –

For I am Yours.

Make me free in You; for only in You, am I free.
