Yesterday, the heat made everything still –
the trees did not sway; the leaves did not flutter;
the clouds in a pure-blue sky, seemed motionless.
Today, a cooling wind blows gently from the hills
and all that has life, moves –
people, fluttering birds, and petals on roses;
lizards, scatter; the skies above disperse their white blobs
and candyfloss puffs drift over a background of changing hues –
light, then dark, then sun-bleached.
Life brings radiance and excitement – the promise of hopeful newness;
yesterday’s oppression has lifted;
though for a short while, it was bitter-sweet stagnation and enforced rest.
The orange roof tops are dotted all over the valley’s floor.
Inside the houses, people talk and play, discuss and ponder,
eat and drink, sleep and dream.
The world is alert –
contemplating the shifting patterns of these whirlwinds of change.
What will tomorrow bring?
Time cannot be contained; restrained.
Memories surface and happy recollections bring smiles.
Every generation is touched.
Another season is expected –
summer’s warm winds become winter chills;
autumn’s rains become heavy downpours, which quench a thirsting earth.
Live now in peace – embrace today, for the present is hard enough!
Thank God for all that the past has given – good and bad.
Trust that the future is in His healing hands; in His loving arms.
We cannot subdue the storms of life; the battering hail of a moment passing.
But He, our powerful God, can do it all!
No other can calm the storm, only the Master of Creation…
The Creator-God of all that is, that was, and is to come!
